Prologue
I am currently imprisoned in a cold prison.
Why is this happening?
It is as though I am the princess of a fantasy land who has been kidnapped by an evil witch, but this is no fantasy setting.
It's the modern day and this place is a prison, there's only one answer.
I have committed a crime, and am here to be punished.
The next 10 years of my youth will be spent in this dark space.
A 10 year sentance, the judgement is passed.
Despite appealing, my crimes are obvious and my sentence will not be reduced or aquitted.
Now all I can do is prepare myself to go to such a place.
But something unthinkable occured.
An visitor came.
I have no friends or relatives. 'Who on earth are you' I think as I head towards the visitation room.
There, a woman I was seeing for the first time sits, a smile on her face.
At the time I didn't know how meeting this woman would change my fate.
The woman turned out to be my saving prince.
A prince who had come running to rescue his imprisoned princess.
Because they told me I would be aquitted of my crimes through a legal means.
Such a thing shouldn't be allowed in contemporary Japan due to its fixed doctrine I thought, but in the end I believed it.
Because I had heard such a story in a coffee house not far from the detention center.
That in the end the final judgement of the law was decided by one person.
Now, back to the story. The gist of her story went as follows.
'Instead of spening 10 years imprisoned without possibility of release, you'll become a product tester for my company. The required time of testing will be 10 days, and your physical wellbeing is assured. A contract will have to be filled. You are being chosen because your physical fitness will be severely tested and not just anyone will be able to do it, not just because you are a dangerous criminal.'
Upon hearing the story, I immediately jumped at the oppertunity.
One would think it sounded too easy, but to a person facing 10 years imprisonment it sounded good.
Honestly I didn't give a damn about the relationships between companies and the state.
I just wanted to be free.
And so without hearing a full explanation I accepted.
